Animerica – Urusei Yatsura – Mighty Space Miners – Record of Lodoss War Box Set – November 1995

May 16, 2012 by Lance Heiskell Leave a Comment

Urusei Yatsura is the cover for November.I think this Record of Lodoss War ad has the first appearance of an anime box set. Granted they've shown bundles for Anime 18, but this is the first for US Manga Corps. Promoted as a "Gift Box" 13 episodes for $129 - a good $50 price break than purchasing the individual volumes. Here's the oddity of this issue. Suncoast has two … [Read more...] about Animerica – Urusei Yatsura – Mighty Space Miners – Record of Lodoss War Box Set – November 1995

Animerica – El Hazard AMV – Ryo-Oh-Ki – 801 T.T.S. Airbats – July 1995

El Hazard is on the cover for July.El Hazard was introduced to me through AMVs. Still to this day, there is not a convention Anime Music Video contest that doesn't have a scene of El Hazard. The primary scene is when Jinnai has the mic and talks directly to the camera screen - lots of editors use that scene. The two best in my opinion are the AMV "This Video Goes to Eleven" … [Read more...] about Animerica – El Hazard AMV – Ryo-Oh-Ki – 801 T.T.S. Airbats – July 1995

Animerica – Astro Boy – Osama Tezuka – La Blue Girl – Anime 18 – Tentacle Anime – June 1995

Astro Boy is this month's cover and the feature is about Osamu Tezuka.Once you open the magazine you are given a face full of an ad for La Blue Girl. I LOVE Anime 18's warnings on the covers for their hentai "WARNING! ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR CHILDREN" Gee, you would think the 'uncensored' bar on the woman's breasts would be a clue. Plus the TENTACLES are BACK!It still amazes … [Read more...] about Animerica – Astro Boy – Osama Tezuka – La Blue Girl – Anime 18 – Tentacle Anime – June 1995

Animerica – Record of Lodoss War – Tokyo Bablyon – US Renditions – Guyver – April 1995

Ears to another good issue of Animerica. Record of Lodoss War is on the cover. In this issue, CPM's US Manga Corp is taking Manga's subtitle premium pricing model and use it on Tokyo Babylon. English Subtitled VHS $29.95, English Dub $19.95. English dubs are expensive to produce so I keep wondering what was the logic to charge less for the English dub.I counted 14 … [Read more...] about Animerica – Record of Lodoss War – Tokyo Bablyon – US Renditions – Guyver – April 1995

Animerica – Macross Plus, CPM Comics – Robotech : Macross The Perfect Collection January 1995

Happy New Year! 1995! So long 1994!Macross Plus is on the cover and the previous Macross II is no longer in story canon. Two different things for Animerica in this issue - new paper stock -matte paper (non-gloss) and lots more ads. This project now looks like it will run longer than I anticipated with the growing number of ads. I'm not complaining, this means more ads to … [Read more...] about Animerica – Macross Plus, CPM Comics – Robotech : Macross The Perfect Collection January 1995

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
