How To Customize Anime Model Kits and Anime That Time Forgot – Animerica November 1999

June 29, 2014 by Lance Heiskell Leave a Comment

Team Rocket is on the cover promoting the first Pokemon movie. I wanted to feature the article "How To Customize Your Model Kits" I have four model kits that I bought at A-Kon around 2003 that I have yet to build. It just wasn't for me as a hobby.Note to any companies with technology in your name. Don't Do It!. Case in point: the ad for LVD.com - Laser Visions Direct. "The … [Read more...] about How To Customize Anime Model Kits and Anime That Time Forgot – Animerica November 1999

Animerica – Darkstalkers Morrigan – Kazou Yamazaki – Haruka Takachiho – Noburo Ishigura Panel Interviews – October 1997

Darkstalkers cover featuring Morrigan must have sold more copies that the previous issues...This issue had some great coverage from Anime Expo. I scanned some "Virtual Panel" interviews and discussions. The interviews were of director Kazou Yamazaki (Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura) and creator of Dirty Pair and Crusher Joe, Haruka Takachiho.Next up was an great read. … [Read more...] about Animerica – Darkstalkers Morrigan – Kazou Yamazaki – Haruka Takachiho – Noburo Ishigura Panel Interviews – October 1997

Animerica – Sailor Moon – Suncoast Video – MD Geist – August 1996

The second and certainly not the last cover for Sailor Moon.Lots of Sailor Moon in this issue but I mainly wanted to point out the Sailor Moon puns, gadget list and Japanese and English names for the Sailor Moon Special Attacks.I really cringe at 90's marketing. Case in point: Suncoast Video. "Futons. Karate. Sushi. They never prepared you for this Japanese custom." At … [Read more...] about Animerica – Sailor Moon – Suncoast Video – MD Geist – August 1996

Animerica – Mamoru Oshii – Ghost on the Shell – Anime Ad Fun – Fan Art – February 1996

Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell is the cover for the February 1996 Animerica. Wonder how many people got into anime due to this movie. There are definitely gateway TV shows and movies that get people into the fandom.Below the cover are three ads with horrible play-on-words with anime. Suncoast: "Get Anime-ted!" Manga Entertainment: "The Best Anime-tion!" Pioneer: … [Read more...] about Animerica – Mamoru Oshii – Ghost on the Shell – Anime Ad Fun – Fan Art – February 1996

Animerica – Urusei Yatsura – Mighty Space Miners – Record of Lodoss War Box Set – November 1995

Urusei Yatsura is the cover for November.I think this Record of Lodoss War ad has the first appearance of an anime box set. Granted they've shown bundles for Anime 18, but this is the first for US Manga Corps. Promoted as a "Gift Box" 13 episodes for $129 - a good $50 price break than purchasing the individual volumes. Here's the oddity of this issue. Suncoast has two … [Read more...] about Animerica – Urusei Yatsura – Mighty Space Miners – Record of Lodoss War Box Set – November 1995

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
