So much mecha in one magazine! The History of Mecha Anime Part 1 is the highlight.I bought the majority of Gasaraki at Movie Trading Company as used singles. I might have bought one new. It was a confusion show at times. Not one I'd rewatch. The mecha was cool - the Votoms guy Ryosuke Takahashi worked on it. I should have read this spotlight article, lots of nuance gets … [Read more...] about History of Mecha Anime – Gasaraki – Gundam Wing Endless Waltz – Animerica October 2000

Animerica – Slayers and Over-Priced VHS English Subtitled Anime Releases – May 1999

The cover is Gatchaman Tatsunoko greatness, but I think The Slayers feature is the best part of this issue. If you want to introduce your friends to Slayers, send them to read this feature scan. That's kinda it on the main items to cover. Onto the highlights of this issue. Lots of 90s ads.Urban Vision uses an accent in the word anime. Plus this cringe worthy copy "The … [Read more...] about Animerica – Slayers and Over-Priced VHS English Subtitled Anime Releases – May 1999

Animerica April 1999 Full of Lum and Urusei Yatsura

Back in 1998-99 these Animerica issues had lots of promotion for Video Girl Ai. I eventually got this series in 2009 in a Right Stuff sale for cheap and have yet to watch it. But that's not really the focus of this issue for me. It's the Urusei Yatsura feature.I had no idea that the Urusei Yatsura manga went from 1978 to 1987 and that there were 195 episodes. This is one … [Read more...] about Animerica April 1999 Full of Lum and Urusei Yatsura

Bastard!! The only reason I have a copy of this anime series is because of the exclamation points (that and at the time I traded FUNimation shows for Pioneer shows with a counter-part at Pioneer)Onto the highlights!Animerica gave some information from those paper response card people sent it. The majority of Animerica readers 50/50 male, female split with the average … [Read more...] about Animerica – The Loser Hero Story Trope – Ninjas – Anime Central – February 1999

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
