Animerica – Slayers and Over-Priced VHS English Subtitled Anime Releases – May 1999

October 17, 2013 by Lance Heiskell 1 Comment

The cover is Gatchaman Tatsunoko greatness, but I think The Slayers feature is the best part of this issue. If you want to introduce your friends to Slayers, send them to read this feature scan. That's kinda it on the main items to cover. Onto the highlights of this issue. Lots of 90s ads.Urban Vision uses an accent in the word anime. Plus this cringe worthy copy "The … [Read more...] about Animerica – Slayers and Over-Priced VHS English Subtitled Anime Releases – May 1999

The majority of Animerica readers 50/50 male, female split with the average … [Read more...] about Animerica – The Loser Hero Story Trope – Ninjas – Anime Central – February 1999

So Yu Yu Hakusho makes it onto the cover and Hiei is on the cover rather than Yusuke. (this cover is for the ladies...)Highlights: Notice the prices for Tenchi Muyo Movie 2 - 4 types of releases - Sub VHS, Dub VHS, DVD and Lasedisc. That's a whole lot of inventory and quantities project if you are in Pioneer. Another US Manga Corp show I have not clue about: Takegami - … [Read more...] about Animerica – Yu Yu Hakusho – Tenchi Muyo Movie – ReiRei English Dub – February 1998

In This Issue of Animerica - ANIME! - what a shocker.Highlights:Part 2 of the "Summer of Anime" Project A-Kon 8 in Dallas, Texas is the featured con report. Highlights include a fire alarm clearing the convention - that never gets old. I like the one page of color photos. You'll be seeing more of these con reports with pics when they pop up in an issue - similar to … [Read more...] about Animerica – Samurai Anime – Japanimation – Project A-Kon – Armitage – September 1997

First Issue of Mixx Zine. Mixx Publications was the company that would later be known as Tokyopop. They even had a magazine named Tokyopop (which I have a few copies that I'll be scanning the covers and some ads from)In this first issue there were 4 manga titles: Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Parasyte and Iceblade. In Sailor Moon, the name for Usagi Tsukino was … [Read more...] about Mixx Zine – First Issue Manga – Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Parasyte, Ice Blade

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
