Tenchi Muyo! From OVA to Movies to Universe and Manga – Animerica August 1999

December 2, 2013 by Lance Heiskell Leave a Comment

Harem Scare'm it's Techi Muyo Time!Ahh...Tenchi Muyo. The godfather of harem anime. To me it seems like the best era for harem titles started with Tenchi Muyo and ended with Love Hina. Then it all turned into extreme boob fanservice at the expense of the story.Anyway...I scanned the feature story about all things Tenchi Muyo - from the OVA, TV series, manga and … [Read more...] about Tenchi Muyo! Animerica – Kiki’s Delivery Service – Ani-Magine Anime Chroma Cels – September 1998

March 3, 2013 by Lance Heiskell

Not a whole lot of commentary from this issue. There was a cover feature article on Kiki's Delivery Service and the works of Hayao Miyazaki. I scanned the editor page for a piece on Akira Kurosawa, who passed away that year in 1998. Now, on to the ads:Highlights:Take a minute to read the review of the last two episodes of the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The award … [Read more...] about Animerica – Kiki’s Delivery Service – Ani-Magine Anime Chroma Cels – September 1998

Animerica August 1998 Bandai Entertainment, Anime-Village.com and Evangelion Anime Cover

When going over this issue, I think this August 1998 Animerica is the most formative issue to date. Here are the highlights. Why formative? While Neon Genesis Evangelion has been advertised some by ADV, all the ads promoted other titles as well. It was not until the last VHS volume 13 that Evangelion got a full ad. For this issue the show finally got a cover. I scanned … [Read more...] about Animerica August 1998 Bandai Entertainment, Anime-Village.com and Evangelion Anime Cover

The second part deals with all the numerous CD soundtracks and the article "Evolution of the Valkyrie" - goes through all the different designs and models from Macross Plus, Macross 7 and Macross II.The other main item I found in this issue is the full introduction of ADV Films modern … [Read more...] about Animerica – Macross Soundtrack – Kimagure Orange Road – ADV Films Logo – July 1998

Animerica – Samurai Anime – Japanimation – Project A-Kon – Armitage – September 1997

In This Issue of Animerica - ANIME! - what a shocker.Highlights:Part 2 of the "Summer of Anime" Project A-Kon 8 in Dallas, Texas is the featured con report. Highlights include a fire alarm clearing the convention - that never gets old. I like the one page of color photos. You'll be seeing more of these con reports with pics when they pop up in an issue - similar to … [Read more...] about Animerica – Samurai Anime – Japanimation – Project A-Kon – Armitage – September 1997

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
