So much mecha in one magazine! The History of Mecha Anime Part 1 is the highlight.I bought the majority of Gasaraki at Movie Trading Company as used singles. I might have bought one new. It was a confusion show at times. Not one I'd rewatch. The mecha was cool - the Votoms guy Ryosuke Takahashi worked on it. I should have read this spotlight article, lots of nuance gets … [Read more...] about History of Mecha Anime – Gasaraki – Gundam Wing Endless Waltz – Animerica October 2000

WOW. This issue is packed. As of 2015, Cowboy Bebop is 17 years old.17. It's still the best series to get a person interested into anime. From the feature "I saw by chance one day a little bit of a TV program about bounty hunters in America, and came up with a plan for the show in about an hour." director Shinichiro Watanabe said in an … [Read more...] about Animerica – Cowboy Bebop Inspired by Renegade? – Sputnik7, Magic Knight Rayearth – January 2000

Animerica August 1998 Bandai Entertainment, Anime-Village.com and Evangelion Anime Cover

When going over this issue, I think this August 1998 Animerica is the most formative issue to date. Here are the highlights. Why formative? While Neon Genesis Evangelion has been advertised some by ADV, all the ads promoted other titles as well. It was not until the last VHS volume 13 that Evangelion got a full ad. For this issue the show finally got a cover. I scanned … [Read more...] about Animerica August 1998 Bandai Entertainment, Anime-Village.com and Evangelion Anime Cover

Animerica – Dirty Pair – Anime VHS & Laserdisc Ad Copy – Dragon Knight – May 1994

Hot pants and Go-Go boots plaster this months issue of Animerica. I need to pick up Right Stuf's reissue of Dirty Pair. The interview in the article is quite good. The ad? Well...By now, you've seen the pattern in early to mid 90's VHS and Laserdisc anime ads - Too much description copy and long verbose taglines/headlines: "The Dirty Pair - The action is non-stop and the … [Read more...] about Animerica – Dirty Pair – Anime VHS & Laserdisc Ad Copy – Dragon Knight – May 1994

Animerica – Battle Angel – Japanimation – A. D. Vision – Mail Order – October 1993

I love a good pun title and "Have Gunnm, Will Travel" caught my attention to read. The half-page article was written by Matt Greenfield of the scrappy new company based in Houston, TX called A.D. Vision. I liked the article. It was a quick 'inside baseball' type of retelling how they put the Battle Angel OVA release together.Speaking of A.D. Vision - Their ad for "GUY" a … [Read more...] about Animerica – Battle Angel – Japanimation – A. D. Vision – Mail Order – October 1993

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
