Mixx Zine Issue 5 – Sailor Moon Manga Magazine

February 25, 2013 by Lance Heiskell Leave a Comment

Not much to say with the 1998 issues of Mixx Zine. Just a lot of b-boyz publishing a manga mag towards girls. Lots overuse of photoshop, starburts and the color hot pink.

Highlights:

  • I still don’t understand MixxMoney – not explained that well. You have to be a subscriber to earn MixxMoney – so all the newstand readers are screwed. There is no real way to tracking what amount you have, you just have to trust MixxZine’s “database”. Ughgghhh…I can stand how they use “u” for “you.” This is why the Mixx Zine summaries are short.
  • Yes. In the ’90s, mousepads were a thing.
  • The reader art is good this issue
  • I’ll keep scanning the letters page. It’s a great way to check back on what was talked about in fandom during this time. First one is about Mixx Zine naming on Sailor Moon vs DIC. Serena vs Bunny explanation.
  • Mixx Zine announces Pocket Manga volumes selling for $11.99.
  • Harlem Beat is announced as the new series for the magazine.

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
