Mixx Zine – Issue 1-2 – October 1997 – Sailor Moon & Magic Knight Rayearth Manga Magazine

November 12, 2012 by Lance Heiskell Leave a Comment

Here is the second issue of Mixx Zine. The magazine and company which would turn into Tokyopop.

I so love the 90’s cover layout. The artist even gets two thirds of the credits page in the magazine. A little odd, but that’s ok.

Each of the 4 manga series in this magazine got an introduction page before going straight into the manga. I scanned the ones for Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth and Parasyte.

New for this issue if the Mixx Page. A hodgepodge of fan art, letters and miscellanea. There was nerd rage over MixxMoney and people not wanting to cut into their magazine for a coupon. It’s not mint if you cut into it. Read into the explanation of Mixx Money – very complicated execution and explanation for a simple loyalty program idea. Also Thanx is not a word.Mixx-Zine-Manga-Monthly-October-1997-Issue-2

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
