CLAMP X 1999 Movie – Rintaro Interview – Gundam Wing – Animerica May 2000

animerica may 2005 cover

I'm glad that X 1999 became an anime TV series because the movie was artistically weird for me. The anime series reminded me of the X-Men since it was the Seven Seal vs the Seven Harbingers - like a mutant X-Team battling other mutants with different agendas.I included the Rintaro interview to help with understanding the movie. This was a good issue for reviews.Included … [Read more...] about CLAMP X 1999 Movie – Rintaro Interview – Gundam Wing – Animerica May 2000

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. I watched this entire series through Netflix in 2001 - back when they only had one distribution center in California to mail back the DVDs. I also did this with Armored Trooper Votoms. I loved the Two-Mix opening. LOVED IT.Below is the Animerica Spotlight on Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and an interview with the series director Masashi Ikeda. I really … [Read more...] about Mobile Suit Gundam Wing – Castle of Cagliostro – Trigun – Animerica April 2000

Martian Successor Nadesico was one of the first dubbed shows I watched and collected. The show got me interested in Kia Asamiya (I have Silent Mobius and his Batman DC Comics graphic novel) and Keiji Goto, who later went to create Kiddy Grade - the first anime that I was the responsible for launching for FUNimation. The Editor's page shows that this issue starts the 8th year … [Read more...] about Martian Successor Nadesico – Kia Asamiya Interview – Animerica March 2000

Sailor-Moon-Tuxedo-Mask_February

In this issue, I included a Yoshiyuki Tomino interview to promote the domestic release of Garzey's Wing.I loved how this one starts: Animerica: How did you become an animator? Yoshiyuki Tomino: I'm not an animator. I'm a director. There's a difference. Animerica: Then how did you become a director? Yoshiyuki Tomino: It was the only job I took. Animerica: Would you … [Read more...] about Yoshiyuki Tomino Interview – Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yugi Articles – Animerica February 2000

WOW. This issue is packed. As of 2015, Cowboy Bebop is 17 years old.17. Princess Mononoke Hayao Miyazaki Interview – Animerica – December 1999

July 7, 2014 by Lance Heiskell 3 Comments

Closing out the decade with Princess Mononoke and an interview with Hayao Miyazaki. I like this first part of the interview: "But, Miyazaki admitted, he had not yet see the English version of the movie."Basically, I assumed that the staff at Miramax would do a good job." he said. "If couldn't make the assumption, I would have had to do the whole thing myself."This … [Read more...] about Princess Mononoke Hayao Miyazaki Interview – Animerica – December 1999

Team Rocket is on the cover promoting the first Pokemon movie. I wanted to feature the article "How To Customize Your Model Kits" I have four model kits that I bought at A-Kon around 2003 that I have yet to build. It just wasn't for me as a hobby.Note to any companies with technology in your name. Don't Do It!. Case in point: the ad for LVD.com - Laser Visions Direct. "The … [Read more...] about How To Customize Anime Model Kits and Anime That Time Forgot – Animerica November 1999

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and the Legend of Akira – Animerica October 1999

June 28, 2014 by Lance Heiskell 1 Comment

Pokemon is mentioned in Entertainment Weekly and the question asked is "Has anime arrived?" because Pokemon and Pikachu is being referenced frequently in mainstream press.15 years ago an article "The Legacy of Akira" was written and the impacts are still seen today. Interesting note that Troma released "My Neighbor Totoro" in the '90s--before Disney got hold of … [Read more...] about Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and the Legend of Akira – Animerica October 1999

Practice Makes Awesome

A Few Tips Upon Reading

First off, find a secluded area and pour yourself a beverage of choice. You must cleanse the palate to take in the delicacies of the nostalgia I'm about to throw down.

Second, if it’s cold where you live, grab a blanket, maybe two. If at all possible, sit down while reading. I hate standing, never stood for it, never will.

Finally, see if you can find the encrypted message left in the third magazine post.
