I'm glad that X 1999 became an anime TV series because the movie was artistically weird for me. The anime series reminded me of the X-Men since it was the Seven Seal vs the Seven Harbingers - like a mutant X-Team battling other mutants with different agendas.I included the Rintaro interview to help with understanding the movie. This was a good issue for reviews.Included … [Read more...] about CLAMP X 1999 Movie – Rintaro Interview – Gundam Wing – Animerica May 2000

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing – Castle of Cagliostro – Trigun – Animerica April 2000
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. I watched this entire series through Netflix in 2001 - back when they only had one distribution center in California to mail back the DVDs. Martian Successor Nadesico – Kia Asamiya Interview – Animerica March 2000
Martian Successor Nadesico was one of the first dubbed shows I watched and collected. The show got me interested in Kia Asamiya (I have Silent Mobius and his Batman DC Comics graphic novel) and Keiji Goto, who later went to create Kiddy Grade - the first anime that I was the responsible for launching for FUNimation. The Editor's page shows that this issue starts the 8th year … [Read more...] about Martian Successor Nadesico – Kia Asamiya Interview – Animerica March 2000

In this issue, I included a Yoshiyuki Tomino interview to promote the domestic release of Garzey's Wing.I loved how this one starts: Animerica: How did you become an animator? Yoshiyuki Tomino: I'm not an animator. I'm a director. There's a difference. Animerica: Then how did you become a director? Yoshiyuki Tomino: It was the only job I took. Princess Mononoke Hayao Miyazaki Interview – Animerica – December 1999
Closing out the decade with Princess Mononoke and an interview with Hayao Miyazaki. Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and the Legend of Akira – Animerica October 1999
Pokemon is mentioned in Entertainment Weekly and the question asked is "Has anime arrived?" because Pokemon and Pikachu is being referenced frequently in mainstream press.15 years ago an article "The Legacy of Akira" was written and the impacts are still seen today.
