Darkstalkers cover featuring Morrigan must have sold more copies that the previous issues…
This issue had some great coverage from Anime Expo. I scanned some “Virtual Panel” interviews and discussions.
The interviews were of director Kazou Yamazaki (Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura) and creator of Dirty Pair and Crusher Joe, Haruka Takachiho.
Next up was an great read. Point/Counterpoint with Haruka Takachiho & Noburo Ishigura as they debated the concept of “originality”
Take a read since this issue is 15 years old and involves discussion on the popularity and originality of Dragon Ball and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Highlights:
ADV Films ad for Blue Seed VHS is so uplifting: “Government sanctioned human sacrifices…Elite special agents…and genocide. The end of the world is here.” Great headline, but pairing it with the following quote on the ad doesn’t mix well with the utter gloom and doom: “A flawless mix of drama, comedy and romance…” Protoculture Addicts.”
Urban Vision’s Gourmet Anime “American Anime -Setting New Standards in Japanese Animation” tagline is getting old fast.
I like the Suncoast ad: “Dear Santa, please bring me some butt-kicking anime this year”
Manga Entertainment has the best 90s VHS covers. So, so 90s
