Armored Trooper Votoms is the cover, feature and VHS ad of record for this issue. I watched this series in 2001 via Netflix because it was one of the only full complete titles to rent on the service (Gundam Wing was second)
I wanted to highlight Ani-Mayhem again by scanning an article introducing the card game. Magic, the Gathering was released in 1992 and I guess this was Pioneer trying to cash-in on the collectible card game audience. The first set of cards totaled 305 cards from shows ranging from Bubblegum Crisis, Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo to El-Hazard. The article states the game was created by AnimeCafe and lists the team who put the game together.
The Pioneer ad states the 75 card Ani-Mayhem starter deck cost $8.98 and 9 card booster packs priced at $1.98.
